My boyfriend & I just stayed at Wakefield Farms this past weekend Friday & Sat night. We had no idea what to expect. We were just counting on all the wonderful reviews that we read & going with the flow. We were pleasantly surprised and very happy with what we found. Wakefield Farms is a little hidden gem out in the country. The property is beautiful! We stayed in the private cottage. It's painted all-white & very tastefully done with a French country/rustic modern feel. It has a very stylish full kitchen with brand-new appliances. The bathroom is huge & more than enough room for 2 people. The whole vibe of the place is very relaxing. Our cottage looked out to the pool, which I heard is the only pool at a B & B in the entire area. Susan the owner is just as sweet as she can be. She was so helpful with all kinds of tips & suggestions about the area as well as patiently answering all of our real estate questions. I loved all the little touches such as the candy bar on the bed, The pillow menu and the bowl of fresh eggs from her chicken coop waiting for us on the kitchen counter. We just wanted to get out of the city, which was only an hour drive from Houston, and relax and just explore as we wished and have no schedule. Wakefield Farms is the perfect place to do this! It's about a five minute drive from the little downtown of Chapel Hill. The town is tiny but it does have a really cute Icehouse called to 291 saloon and a great restaurant called Bever's. There's also a winery call Texas star winery right down the road from Wakefield farms that has a tasting room. Their wines are actually really good! we also ventured over to Roundtop which is about a 25 min drive. We had an amazing dinner at Royers! I highly recommend their shrimp and grits and their quail! Also, you must try a slice of their homemade pie… Salted Caramel & their apple pie were both out of this world! We also ventured over to the little town of Burton which is about 20 minutes away and found the White horse saloon which is a really fun watering hole with live music! We learned that there is a lavender & wine festival that goes on in Chapel Hill in early August & we are definitely going to try & attend next year & stay at Wakefield Farms! I am also going to try & organize a girls weekend there soon! Forgot to mention that the place is very clean. Thank you again Susan for the wonderful hospitality at your special place!
